Come celebrate at Shetland’s event of the year…..Up-Helly-Aa
Imagine the sight before you – the proud and prosperous Jarl Squad dressed as Vikings with 30 supporting squads of guizers - This is the Lerwick Up Helly Aa. That’s a total of 2,000 guizers, all singing and carrying viking torches as they proceed triumphantly through the streets of Lerwick. Then watch in amazement as the parade climaxes to a dramatic finale with the symbolic burning of the Jarl squad’s very own galley, built especially for the event.
Once you have changed into your evening wear for the 'hall' we will have a fortifying buffet and a few drinks before we all set off for the hall. And if you think the party stops here, think again. After the procession you’ll be whisked off to 
one of the community halls where you can soak up the experience like a true Shetlander. You’ll party away as you mingle with the locals who will take pride in looking after you. You can party all night if you want to!
