A truly friendly hotel, home away from home
My second time staying at Herrislea, a real family run and very friendly hotel. It is not for those who are city dwelling fans of sterile white and black boutique hotels, this hotel is jam packed full of character. You will never be short of a interesting story or two. My room was immaculate, yes the decor is maybe 10 years beyond "mainstream" fashions but I cannot fault the cleanliness and standards. The heating is on for the cold nights and the the place is so cosy. Well done to the owners for preserving what is an authentic experience. Looking forward to checking in again.
The owners and staff make you feel at home and are always on hand to help. Have stayed in much more expensive hotels and not been treated so well. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for good food friendly staff good bed.
Stayed one night through work and was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of accommodation. Having stayed in many Shetland hotels over the years I would like to return to this quirky hotel. The hosts were very friendly and the evening meal was excellent. Breakfast too was very good and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. First class.
