We are Good To Go


At Herrislea House we have always been required to keep guests and staff safe, however in these unprecedented times of Covid, we have some additional measures. Below is some information for you to help you enjoy your stay.

Facemasks are required to be worn while walking around the hotel.  Once seated you may remove them.


As far as possible we will leave the room vacant for one day after servicing and before check-in so that guests are kept safe.

However, this is not always possible, therefore because the room must be left at least three hours between servicing and check in. We have set check out at 11am and check in at 3pm.

We will not service your room while you are here for a short stay.  However if you require your room serviced, towels, tray or fridge filled.  Please ask us.

Coffee/tea and all in that tray is complimentary in your room.  The Minibar in your room should have a price list, these are the same as our bar prices.  Everything in here is sanitised by wiping with Varibact when preparing the room.  When the fridge is re-filled the Housekeeper will take note of usage at that time and leave a new form which you can fill in for the last usage and please bring it to reception before breakfast on the day of check out.

Food & Beverage

We do have a bar provision downstairs and you can order at reception or table and have drinks or coffee/tea in our front room or dining room, charging to your room.  You may pay by cash or card when you check out.


We serve breakfast downstairs in the dining room next reception.  Please let us know the evening before when you would like breakfast to help maintain social distancing.

Unfortunately we cannot have our usual cold buffet in the dining room however these items can be served from the kitchen to you.

You may arrange to have a breakfast tray to your room the evening before if you prefer

Other Meals

Although we are not serving dinner.  We will maintain some snacks/small meals to offer guests.   If you are in during the day/evening and require something to eat please ask at reception for what is available.


We ask that you use the toilet in your room and not the public ones during your stay

During your stay we do want to provide as much local information for you as we can. 

Do ask at breakfast or reception if you have a query on either the hotel or the wider Shetland Islands

You will be asked to fill out a Track & Trace form before you leave

Keeping everyone safe

Finally we have put in place a system of regular cleaning of touch points in the public areas, in particular after breakfast and after guests come back in the evening.

It is a very difficult decision to make around opening this for 2020.

We need to protect our guests and also our staff.

We have decided to open from August 12th to take in what is left of the summer season.

We are not serving breakfast or any other meals at this time but will have a member of staff available who can collect you from Lerwick or Scalloway after dinner if you require or can collect dinner for you.  Please remember to have with you a mask or scarf that you feeling comfortable wearing should it be required.

We will not service rooms each day and will let you know which days we intend to service your room.

We will leave the room vacant for one day upon departure before servicing so that guests and staff are kept safe.

We will continue to have a bar provision of mini bars in your room and also available at reception.

The "We’re Good To Go” certificate is the official UK mark to signal that the property follows Government and industry COVID-19 guidelines and has a process in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing.
